- Nguyen Phan Chanh is a silk master in Vietnam. As a well-trained painter following the French program, he adopted the modern Western visual style when building his works, but the story was always imbued with the quintessence of the Vietnamese nation. The painting ‘Rural market’ fully encapsulates the painter’s brushworks as well as his endless passion for Vietnamese traditions and customs, for rural scenery and people that, for some, may seem monotonous but never lacking in nobility.
