- In the latter years, Dang Tien focused a lot on landscape painting, especially the familiar landscapes of which he was born, raised in and is still attached to - Hai Phong. Throughout his oeuvre is characterised by a very distinctive muted palette, full of serenity but also extremely affectionate and tender feelings that represents his longing for his peaceful hometown. Beauty to him is not the brilliance of colors but tranquility of emotions and it explains, when looking at his paintings, some people may say that they can almost see the soul of his subjects, the people, the trees, river, buildings. These special sentiments are clearly shown in the oil on canvas ‘Tam Bac River', which depicts the dreamy symbol of Hai Phong city.
