Abstract (1993)

- Artist: Bửu Chỉ
- Dimensions: 60 x 45 cm
- Materials: Oil on canvas

- In the early days, Buu Chi devoted all his time to propaganda art while fighting for national independence and unification of Vietnam. From 1975 onwards, he began to convey his desires and explore personal language in arts. Created in the late 1990s, 'St. Valentine' shows that his works always remained rich in literature and romantic spirit as well as in symbolism. The dove, a visual symbol he used frequently in his early days when he was still drawing with black ink, now accompanies the still life and an apple, a colorful ‘Buu Chi’ expression that represents his philosophy, both intense and calm like his palette in this canvas and always requires contemplation.
